Alain-Ren? Lesage (1668-1747)

Alain-Rene lesage was born in Sarzeau in France on May 8th 1668. His father died when he was 14. He studied law and was attorney but never practised this professions. He married Marie-Elisabeth Huyard in 1694 and had 4 children. In 1700 he wrote some Spanish Plays but nobody performed them. In 1707 his play Crispin rival de son maitre was a great succes. The novel Gil Blas of Santillana was first published in 1715. He died in 1747.
